Date 34 - The Unexpectant Gentleman
The Scene: The Atlanta Belt line.
The Attire: Black & white striped fitted dress, pretty girl jean jacket, and white converse.
The Meeting: As I was capturing images in front of the largest Tiny Door, this gentleman intentionally interrupted my experience.
The Environment: It was a packed Sunday with people mulling around, and I was on the hunt for @TinyDoorsATL, although it was the one large door I was seeking.
I set up my tripod, framed it diligently, and readied for “that” shot. A gentleman who was on FaceTime with someone walks directly into my shot, all while still talking. He gets off the phone, and begins to pose in the frame I just set up. I looked at him and just laughed at the audacity, at the suaveness and the gall of this man. It was, at least, entertaining.
“Do you want me to take your picture?” I asked him.
He replied, “Sure.”
I obliged and wanted him to walk away so that I could continue my task at hand. He didn’t; he just waited on the side. Watched and waited.
I turned to him and demanded, “Can I help you?”
He said, “Well, aren’t you going to do something?”
In my mind, I was like, damn, I don’t require an audience.
We began bantering, and that conversation led to tea and coffee, which then led to dinner. We ended up on an impromptu 6-hour date that was filled with stories, horoscope readings, unabashed laughter, strategic business engagements, and the list continues. It was a beautiful, unexpected blessing. I have no idea where it will lead, but it was a solid reminder that being open reaps unexpected benefits.
Now, his follow-up leaves a lot to be desired, but I will always remember our unforgettable meeting that impacted my perspective on possibilities.
Note to Self: Be open at all times.
